Starfield's main story revolves around the theory of the multiverse, introducing players to two key characters along the way. While both characters are Starborn, the Hunter and the Emissary have very different ideologies, which makes choosing between the pair a bit tricky during the Unearthed main quest.

At first glance, the Emissary might seem like the obvious choice here, especially given Hunter's behavior in the high-priced mainline quests. Before making a decision, however, some players may wish to learn more about the Hunter, such as who he really is and what drives his endless quest for artifacts and unity.

Who is the hunter in the sky?
During the Follow Their Footsteps main quest, players will learn that the Hunter is actually a version of Father Aquilus, a devout man who the player previously encountered while trying to uncover the mystery of Unity Had a conversation with him. This may seem impossible at first since the two men are so different, but it all ties into Starfield's main story and purpose of unity.
By stepping into the unified light, people are able to enter new universes and in the process be reborn as starborn. The Hunter is a version of Father Aquilus from a distant universe who, after being reborn multiple times, has forgotten what it was like to be human and his actions are now driven solely by the pursuit of power, artifacts, and unity.
What does the hunter want?
Hunters place power above all else and do not hesitate to use force to claim artifacts. Players will see this firsthand when he raids the hut during the high-priced main quest, or maybe even earlier if they happen to encounter the Hunter in New Atlantis or Akira City and foolishly fight him. However, it is worth noting that hunters do not take pleasure in killing, but see it as the fastest way to return to unity.
Players will first be able to encounter the Hunter leaning against a wall in the New Atlantis spaceport area not far from the viewport. If they talk to him here, he will appear at the bar in Akira City.
Hunters' willingness to cooperate with players seems to stem more from curiosity and boredom. In most other universes, playable characters are the ones who die after the cabin attack, so seeing them get to this point intrigues him. While he can be helpful, he's definitely not a good guy, as shown by him sending the player to kill Father Aquilus if they decide to side with him at the end of the Unearthed main story mission.
Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
