Bungie has revealed their latest Destiny 2 collaboration, but their new partner isn't what some players were expecting. Bungie has often teamed up with other franchises to offer Destiny 2 players additional content, whether through co-op or crossover, but the upcoming content doesn't seem to be convincing players.
Over the past year, Bungie has been expanding the world of Destiny 2 through crossovers with other popular games. In August 2022, the Destiny 2 x Fortnite collaboration sees Commander Zavala, Ikora Rey, and Exo Stranger appear in Epic Games' battle royale. The latest Destiny 2 crossover dates back to September 2022, and sees skins based on Destiny 2's Hunter, Warlock, and Titan appear in Fall Guys. Destiny 2's Season of Seraph brings a variety of Assassin's Creed-inspired items to the FPS at Bungie, and players can get some cosmetics for free.
In a new video posted on Weibo, Bungie announced that multiple elements of Destiny 2 will appear in Tomorrow's Ark, a free-to-play tower defense mobile game. The partnership will bring Destiny skins to Ark of Tomorrow through the story collection event, but no further details have been announced yet. While Tomorrow's Ark is popular in Southeast Asia, mainly in China and Taiwan, it's still fairly unknown to Western players who seem to be interested in the new Destiny 2 crossover and a game they've never heard of. Said the game was disappointing. Arknights fans received the news with even more joy as they will soon be able to use Destiny 2 skins in their favorite mobile game.
Western Destiny 2 players were confused by this announcement, hoping that Bungie would announce a partnership with other major franchises like Warframe or Borderlands. Even Tomorrow's Ark players seemed surprised by the crossover, wondering how the Destiny skin would fit into the popular gashapon game. Ark of Tomorrow has previously adopted costumes from other popular games such as Rainbow Six: Siege, Legend of Luo Xiaohei and Monster Hunter, giving players a new set of tactical armor that looks like these Iconic character in the series.
While the partnership won't affect Destiny 2 players, they can still look forward to new elements coming to Bungie's FPS. The Defiance Season is coming to an end, and the Deep Sea Season is about to start. Bungie let Destiny 2 players take a community vote to decide which of three exotic weapons would get new cosmetics, while players criticized the developer for a lack of communication about the latest patch notes.
Destiny 2 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
