Amazon Luna is a cloud gaming platform, generally available on March 1, 2022, in the US, Canada, Germany, and the UK. Subscription services are gradually becoming more common in the industry; however, most options allow users to download games rather than stream them. So Amazon Luna is taking a risk because its performance depends on someone's internet connection.
Ultimately, none of this will matter if the service doesn't have a solid roster of games at its disposal. Unlike most other services, Amazon Luna divides its library into channels : Luna+, Jackbox Games, and Ubisoft+. Initially, there were also Family and Retro channels, but they were retired in December 2022.

Amazon Luna Link Luna+ has a lot of Nihon Falcom's JRPGs and they are all great. The footprint from scratch is a unique case because it debuted directly on Amazon's streaming service, something Luna will need to do more often if it wants to compete in the market. Originally a Japan-exclusive PSP game in 2010, Footsteps from Scratch finally makes its Western debut in September 2022. Even though a decade has passed since its debut, the JRPG hasn't lost its luster.
Set in a city-state caught between two warring powers, Footsteps from Scratch tells of a cast member who stumbles upon a wider conspiracy. Using a turn-based combat system that emphasizes movement and positioning, the Nihon Falcom title is fun to play. More importantly, the story of the game is very exciting, as is the construction of the world view.

Amazon Luna Link Capcom's Devil May Cry 5 can be considered a litmus test for Amazon Luna. Requiring both precision and quick reflexes, hack slash titles in 2019 don't have much room for error, so input lag can severely impact the experience. On the other hand, if DMC 5 does well for someone, it's a safe bet that most other games will at least be playable.
DMC 5 is also a very fun action game. All three playable characters - Nero, V, and Dante - are completely unique, and each character offers a fully realized combat system that can easily be used as the basis for an entire game. The game is also infinitely replayable, as its focus is entirely on gameplay, and DMC 5 becomes more interesting as players become more familiar with the combat mechanics.
Tetris Effect Connection
Amazon Luna Link Yes, Tetris. Almost everyone is familiar with the hunk of the franchise, as it's been around for decades, and the property seems destined to remain a fixture of the game forever. Despite the timelessness of the concept, Tetris was hard to get excited about because of the belief that the gameplay was going nowhere. At least, that seemed to be the case until the release of 2018's Tetris Effect; while not too different from the status quo of the license, the game felt and still feels fresh.
Tetris Effect: Connected enhances an already excellent package by adding a multiplayer component to the single player mode. It's no surprise that this modern update to this arcade classic is one of the best Luna+ games out there.

Amazon Luna Link 4AGames' Metro makes three great first-person shooters, but Exodus is very different from its predecessors. While the 2019 entry retained the tactical, methodical shootouts that helped put the series on the map, Metro Exodus opened things up significantly, sending players into a series of explorable areas , rather than defining the linear levels of previous games.
Tense and atmospheric, this fps immerses players in a hostile post-apocalyptic world that has no intention of favoring humanity. As such, Metro Exodus isn't always traditionally enjoyable, but the game sticks to its conventions.
Overcooked! 2
Amazon Luna Link Amazon Luna has cooperative play, including an Overcooked version. While the first entry was very entertaining, there's no reason to play it in the sequel, which offers more of the same, only slightly better. Play as a chef in a busy kitchen and overcook it! 2 is a cooking simulation game that is quite realistic and demanding.
While the game loop becomes a bit repetitive after a few hours, the core experience is tight, addictive, and engaging. Keeping up with orders can be quite stressful, an emotion that most of the best Sims on the market will evoke. While sturdy as an individual package, it was overcooked! 2 really starts to sizzle when multiple player-controlled chefs are running the kitchen.
Steamworld Mining 2
Amazon Luna Link Steamworld Dig 2 beautifully builds on the ideas of its predecessor while implementing a few changes that result in an even more satisfying experience. Swapping procedurally generated dungeons for fixed ones, Dig 2 sacrifices some replayability in favor of professionally crafted maps that flow smoothly from exploration to puzzles and combat. This change brings the game world to life while providing an addictive gameplay loop centered around collecting and managing resources.
Steamworld Dig 2 is one of the best games on Luna+ and is perfect for streaming. There are several other Steamworld games on Amazon Luna, and while they're all worth checking out, they don't quite reach the heights that Dig 2 did.
Mega Man 11
Amazon Luna Link After nearly a decade of porting, Capcom has finally dropped a new Mega Man project, and the 2018 entry lives up to the license's legacy. Modern visuals aside, Mega Man 11 mostly sticks to the series' classic blueprint, offering gritty side-scrolling platforming, epic boss battles, and satisfying weapons. As such, this title serves as a solid introduction to the series while also delivering a confident campaign that should keep veterans entertained.
Mega Man 11 requires quick reflexes and precise jumps, so a fast internet connection is recommended for anyone planning to play the game on Amazon Luna.
Paper Beast: Folded Edition
Amazon Luna Link Originally released as a virtual reality game, Paper Beast: Folded Edition makes it accessible to all, and it's a journey worth taking. Pixel Reef creates a stunning and bizarre world filled with pulpy creatures that ooze personality. Visuals aren't everything, but they're certainly the highlight of this enjoyable game.
In terms of gameplay, Paper Beast: Folded Edition contains puzzles that mainly involve manipulating creatures. For those who just want to immerse themselves in this surreal world, the game also has a sandbox mode.
Yakuza 2
Amazon Luna Link Amazon Luna has two Yakuza games : Kiwami and its sequel. These entries are remakes of the first two entries in the series, and while they each have their merits, Kiwami 2 is more complete than its predecessor. That said, newcomers to the Sega license should start with Yakuza Kiwami, since its story leads directly to its follow-up.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 finds Kiryu dragged back into the orbit of the Tojo Group following the death of the group chairman. In addition to the lengthy and thrilling main storyline, the game is filled with memorable side stories that range from absurd hilarity to heartwarming wholesomeness. Yakuza Kiwami 2's minigames are also great, and the same can be said for its small, dense open world.
Resident Evil 2
Amazon Luna Link Capcom's Resident Evil had a rough time in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The series lost touch with its horror roots and turned to a first-person perspective to reinvigorate the series (although Revelations also helped). Resident Evil 7 has landed on Luna+ and is a must-play for horror fans; however, those craving a more traditional entry in the series should prioritize Capcom's remake. While 2020's Resident Evil 3 was good, 2019's Resident Evil 2 is not only a better game, but a contender for the best entry in the series.
RE2 is a third-person shooter that perfectly balances action and horror, satisfying both genres in a way Capcom has historically struggled to do. RE2 features two playable characters that follow relatively different paths, gorgeous, thrilling, and intense. This remake is for fans of the 1998 original as well as those who have never set foot in Raccoon City.
Control: Ultimate Edition
Amazon Luna Link Remedy's Control is an action-packed sci-fi game set within the Federal Bureau of Control, which is home to unexplained phenomena. Armed with powerful abilities to wield in battle, Control's Jesse Faden explores the unnatural building in search of her brother.
Outside of combat, this is by far the best of any Remedy game, and Control shines arguably the brightest when it comes to focusing on the odd fringes of FBC. While the Vanilla Edition is also part of Amazon Luna's Luna+ channel, players should opt for the Ultimate Edition as it includes all of the game's expansion packs.

Amazon Luna Link Amazon Luna may not have Doom, Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, Quake, Blood, Heretic, or Unreal Tournament, but it has something just as good as the : Dusk. Modern throwbacks to old-school classics have become fairly common, and while there are some impressive retro shooters out there, Dusk is a step above most of its contemporaries.
Divided into episodes, the campaign guides players through an ominous landscape filled with mystery and terrifying imagery. Dusk's ambient design is top-notch, and the project has successfully used its inspiration to find a unique sound. For FPS veterans, the gunplay might not offer many surprises, but they're unlikely to be disappointed. The game has an interesting arsenal, some of which are quite unique in the genre.
Saints Row Part III: The Remastered Edition
Amazon Luna Link Saints Row has lost a lot of momentum in recent years, and the 2022 restart has sparked little change in momentum. Even though open-world versions aren't in short supply, Volition's franchise did carve out a niche for itself during its heyday. Saints Row: The Third marked a major shift in licensing history, as the sequel added quirky humor and over-the-top gameplay, a change that divided fans when the project was released. In a vacuum, the 2011 game offers an impressive sandbox designed to facilitate chaotic player action.
Saints Row: The Third is undoubtedly dated, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. For better or worse, the remake plays like an open-world game released in the early 2010s, and it's charming in a nostalgic way. But if someone didn't grow up with the early Saints Row projects, they might lose interest pretty quickly.
Alien: Isolation
Amazon Luna Link It took a while to happen, but the gaming industry has finally managed to make a scary alien game. Aside from the 1979 film, Alien : Isolation is arguably the scariest version of the beloved sci-fi franchise, a feat achieved by emphasizing that the alien is a powerful predator that can tear humans apart effortlessly achieved by this fact.
As Amanda Ripley, players are stranded on a space station alongside iconic monsters, where hiding is the best (and often only) course of action. While there are some weapons, Ripley is generally too weak to fight the aliens much, forcing her to use invisibility to survive. Alien: Isolation Long, intense and true to the source material.
Valkyrie Chronicles 4
Amazon Luna Link Since 2008, Sega's Valkyria Chronicles has quietly become one of the best war-themed franchises in gaming. After two PSP-only sequels (one of which never left Japan) and misguided spinoffs, Valkyria Chronicles 4 sees the license largely regaining prominence.
For the uninitiated, the game is a mix of turn-based tactical combat and third-person shooter elements, though the former takes precedence over the latter. Each entry is also very story-telling, with battles separated by plenty of cutscenes focused on world-building and character development. These components combine to create a package unlike anything else on the market, and they all work well together.

Amazon Luna Link Sega's Blue Blur has had a polarizing 20 years, but if there's one thing almost everyone can agree on, it's that Sonic Mania is awesome. The 2017 version returns to the classic 2D era, not only paying homage to those games by incorporating iconic levels, but also modernizing the gameplay in a way that enhances the overall package. Sonic Mania is a love letter to Sega properties, and the Plus enhances the pack by adding new playable characters.
Whether someone grew up with hedgehogs or not, Sonic Mania is the game they need to play, especially if they like platformers. It's easily one of the best games on Amazon Luna's Luna+ channel.
